Mediating Emergent Need
Nutrition
The Boys and Girls Club collaborates with the school districts to offer summer lunches through the Supplemental Nutrition program. The Club has also receives grant funding to provide nutritious snacks and meals at selected facilities.
School Backpack Program
The Ladies Auxiliary annually provides hundreds of backpack filled with school supplies to children and families in need of them
Shoes for Kids
For the past two years the Club has partnered with Payless Shoes to provide 75 pair of new shoes to children in families that needed them.
Scholarships
Each year the Ladies Auxiliary provides scholarships to deserving youth to help their families support their college ambitions.
Referral Network
Each year club staffs refer families to collaborating partner organizations for needed assistance with shelter, food, clothing and utilities.
Latino Outreach
The Latino Outreach initiative, generous funded by the Goizueta Foundation, has allowed the Club to promote diversity and cultural understanding in the community. The Outreach staffs are advocates and at times voices for and of the Latino community.
‘Pasos’
Educating Latino parents of the desirability and importance of school completion and continued education.
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Latino Outreach and Education
The project educates families on eligibility requirements of the SNAP program and assists them through the bureaucracy of the application process. The program provides a measure of food security to many families.
