Positive Life Choices

(Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) SMART Moves
An ‘evidence-based’ prevention program to help youth resist alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and to postpone sexual activity. The program’s components are SMART Kids for ages 6-9; Start SMART for ages 10-12; Stay SMART for ages 13-15.

S.M.A.R.T. Girls
The course meets the developmental needs of girls. Classes are age appropriate for ages 8-12 and 13-17. Girls explore societal attitudes and cover topics of health and fitness, nutrition, dating, education and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

Passport to Manhood
The course meets the developmental needs of males ages 11-18. Young men explore societal attitudes and cover topics like: responsibility, education, health and fitness and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

Money Matters
Youth, ages 13-18, learn financial responsibility building their basic money management skills. This course is designed to help members understand the financial system through fun and interactive learning.
Character and Leadership Development

Torch Club
A character and leadership development program for youth ages 11 – 13. Torch Club activities instill: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness and Justice, Caring and Citizenship. Service learning is achieved through impacting peer lead service projects.

Keystone Club
A character and leadership development program for youth ages 14-18. Keystone club is an exclusive teen program for leaders in their school’s and community. This program seeks to develop it leaders through peer lead academic success, career preparation and service learning.
Youth of the Month
Each month an outstanding youth is recognized from each of the four facilities for outstanding good behavior, service, achievement, helpfulness and other leadership characteristics. To see the Youths of the Month for each Unit, visit the facilities page and click on the desired Unit.
Youth of the Year
All youth of the month selections are candidates for the Youth of the Year award. Among the thousands of youth we serve each year, the Youth of the Year has demonstrated actions of outstanding leadership and character.
